The 24 Hour Plays bring together creative communities to produce plays and musicals written, rehearsed, and performed in twenty-four hours. Through our radically present approach to theater, we make work that responds immediately to the world around us, builds communities and generates new artistic partnerships that extend throughout the arts and entertainment industry.
Our regular events include The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway, The 24 Hour Musicals and The 24 Hour Plays Los Angeles celebrity galas. With partner organizations around the US and abroad, we produce events in Denver, Sacramento, Savannah, Little Rock, Dublin and many others.

Each year, The 24 Hour Plays Nationals bring together extraordinary early-career theater artists in New York and Los Angeles for a free professional intensive that culminates in the cohort’s own production of The 24 Hour Plays. The Nationals program includes workshops, master classes, career development and lively panel discussions with prominent industry guests, arming the next generation with what they truly need to succeed in this business — each other.
Beginning March 17, 2020, The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues generated over 600 new free-to-view theater pieces, featuring over 1000 artists, viewed millions of times worldwide and archived in the Library of Congress. The 24 Hour Plays are an enduring institution in New York and Los Angeles, while our licensed affiliates and partners produce The 24 Hour Plays and Musicals in theaters and schools everywhere. Our education programs serve students from middle school through college, including an annual partnership with the Educational Theatre Association, where high school students from around the country create their own production of The 24 Hour Plays at the International Thespian Festival.
The 24 Hour Plays are for everyone: from celebrities to students, we celebrate and strengthen creative communities — 24 hours at a time.
